Ashley Zhuge '26 | Political Science Ashley studies political science and (is trying to study) economics. She is thrilled to return to the writing center after a year of studying abroad, with a heightened love for this community and appreciation of writing. When not in the classroom, you can find Ashley reading morning papers, sipping coffee, and figuring out what’s next in life.

Camille Lopez '26 | Computer Science and Mathematics Camille (she/her) is excited to work at the Writing Center and is from Lawrence, MA. Her favorite things to do are eat apple cider donuts, hang out with friends, listen to music, and watch films in her dorm. Outside of the Writing Center, you can find her on SGA, coordinating CARLA events, or laughing at Erd Dining Hall!

Caroline Battersby '26 | Literatures in English and German Caroline (she/her) is thrilled to be back at the Writing Center after a semester of study abroad! She is an English and German double major from the San Francisco Bay Area. Her passions include modernist literature, ancient Christianity, animal rescue, bagels, and rom-coms.

Charlee Thacker '26 | Literatures in English, minor in Environmental Studies Charlee (she/they) traveled over to the East Coast from Southern California. She enjoys scribbling words into poetry, listening to music (or birds!), communal cooking, petting goats, and meandering around greenery. When they’re outside of the Writing Center, you can find them reading somewhere fun in the sun or being cozy in their room—whatever the weather decrees!

Esénia Bañuelos '26 | Linguistics and Literatures in English Esénia is excited to be spending her senior year at the Writing Center! She is a poet and scientific writer from Chicago, interested in collaborating with writers from all disciplines, experiences, and language backgrounds. She is a native Spanish speaker and thus can support the development of works in Spanish and English! When she’s not at the Writing Center, she is the President of the SGA, a Spanish and Sociolinguistics TA, and a true lover of coffee.

Jadyn Patrick '26 | Creative Writing Jadyn (she/her) is a senior creative writing major hailing from the land of bagels and bad drivers: Metuchen, New Jersey. Some of her passions include hacky sack, reality TV, dried mango slices, and online shopping. When she's not working, you can find her writing her budding novella or playing with the Bi-Co Flute Choir!

Jenna Mackenroth '26 | Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, minor in Literatures in English Jenna is from Queens, New York. Outside of school, she’s a Citizens for Boysenberry Jam fan, hot on the brain—particularly concerning memory and disease, and pretends to keep a blog like a full time job. She also believes in the existence of the perfect bagel and dreams of one day spotting David Byrne on his bike.

Miya Matsumune '26 | Geology and History Miya (she/her) is so happy to be a Writing Center tutor this year! She loves creative writing, making music, K-Pop dancing, rocks, and talking about her study abroad experience in Chile. She's from Upland, California (near the Claremont Colleges). If she's not on a shift at the Writing Center, she's supervising at Erdman Dining Hall, working at one of the campus libraries, or planning events for Celebrating All Mixed People (C.A.M.P.) and Choom Boom!

Nada Elshafay '26 | Cities and Fine Arts Nada hails all the way from Cairo, Egypt, and is passionate about everything creative. This is her final year at the writing center, and while it feels bittersweet, she’s excited to spend it helping fellow writers make their papers shine. When she's not at 91´«Ã½ writing about Mudejar architecture, you'll find her bending metal at Haverford's sculpture studio, vlogging, or listening to Disney music while crafting elaborate travel plans that have yet to come true.

Nora Hugo '26 | Sociology and Spanish Nora is excited to return to the Writing Center for her last year of tutoring! She is from Portland, Oregon and appreciates seeing the sun year-round at 91´«Ã½. While she loves making mind-maps on the whiteboard and reading essays about new subjects, she also has hobbies outside of work. Most of her free time is spent reading romance novels, starting craft projects that she’ll never finish, searching for the perfect podcast, playing guitar, and convincing her friends to have game nights.

Norah Chinn '26 | Literatures in English, minor in Chinese Norah is from Westfield, New Jersey. She loves traveling, painting, and binge-watching C-dramas in her room. Outside the Writing Center, you’ll find her studying languages, powering through HIIT workouts, or dancing with Choom!

Rachael Finke '26 | French and Political Science Rachael is excited to work in the Writing Center this school year! She comes from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Outside of school and work, she loves playing violin in the Bi-Co music program, listening to all kinds of podcasts (she welcomes recommendations!), going for walks, and drinking cappuccinos.

Rana Rastegari '26 | Literatures in English and Chemistry Rana is from Iran but lives in London. She loves to read anything by Joan Didion and bake in the Well Kitchen and hoard copies of Vogue. Outside the Writing Center, she works as the Co-Editor-in-Chief and can often be found in the newsroom. 

Sydney Schmidt-Nowara '26 | Psychology, minor in Asian American Studies Sydney is from Brooklyn, NY. She is super excited to work with all kinds of writers! In her free time, Sydney loves to talk about reality dating shows, daydream about fun outfits, and spend time with her friends.

Sylvan Miles '26 | Literatures in English and Africana Studies Sylvan hails from New Jersey, and they are extremely dedicated to their passions: reading, writing, wandering, and bonding with all the geese of the Greater Philadelphia Region. They are a strong contender for the prestigious designation of world’s biggest Schyukill River fan.

Juniors

Ayla Conn '27 | International Studies, minors in Spanish and Linguistics Ayla (she/her) is from the Chicago area and is excited to return for another year in the writing center! Outside of the WC, you can find her co-captaining Mock Trial, looking for campus toads, starting a new craft, or enjoying a New Dorm root beer float with friends.

Chaewon Lee '27 | Political Science, minor in Economics Chaewon currently calls Arizona home, but was also raised in South Korea. At 91´«Ã½, she enjoys being part of Korean Students Association and also dancing for the showcases! Outside of work and school, she enjoys all things food related (FOODIE), Kdramas, taking 91´«Ã½ walks, and music, especially jazz, classical, and film scores. She also loves spending late nights talking and watching movies with friends in the dorm.

Felicia Famularo '27 | Sociology, minor in Data Science Felicia is from Storrs, CT (GO HUSKIES!), and she is so excited to be working in the Writing Center this year. In her free time, she loves binge-watching reality TV and reading romance novels. When they're not in class, you'll probably find them dancing, playing DTI with their friends, or catching up on the latest in the WNBA and RuPaul's Drag Race.

Nida Mubaraki '27 | Literatures in English and Creative Writing, minor in Film Studies Nida (she/her) is from Princeton, New Jersey. She loves going on walks, Elliott Smith (among so many others), a good bar of chocolate, pilates, and thrifting. Outside of academics, you can find her at Night Owls rehearsals, editing (and editing and editing) a prose poem, memorizing a monologue, or at 91´«Ã½ Film Institute. 

Isa Choi-Orr '27 | Classical Studies, minor in East Asian Literatures & Cultures Isa (she/her) is from DC and NYC. She loves ube lattes, video games, planning food crawls in Philly, creative writing, film editing, and hosting game nights in her room. She is very excited to be returning to the Writing Center this year!

Ella Horvath '27 | History of Art Ella is from seacoast New Hampshire, and while at 91´«Ã½, can often be found in the Russian Center, college archives, and riding the Blue Bus or SEPTA in loops with friends. She is eager to work with students from all departments and interests and as an art history major is especially interested in the nuances of writing about the past.

Menaal Hussain '27 | Economics, minor in Data Science Menaal hails all the way from Islamabad, Pakistan. She is thrilled to be working with you this year! When she’s not studying or working, you can find her wandering through nature, cooking up something delicious, or exploring new spots outside of campus. She’s passionate about literature and often has a playlist on as she daydreams about her next spontaneous adventure.

Sophomores

Allison Dixon '28 | Undeclared (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) Allison (she/her) is from the Boston area and is so excited to be working in the Writing Center! When not working in the Writing Center, you can find her crocheting, playing board games, or taking walks around campus.

Dinah Whitmarsh '28 | Undeclared (Literatures in English, minor in Political Science) Dinah is from Middlebury, Vermont. She likes to read, knit, swim, and eat those slices of almond coffee cake form the dining hall. When she's not tutoring at the Writing Center, you can find her reading novels in the back rooms of Carpenter library, rehearsing with her castmates in the SPT, or enjoying Rhoads Beach. 

Erys Allemann '28 | Undeclared (Cities, minor in Spanish) Erys (any pronouns) comes from the Seattle area (following a move out of the Texas heat), and is here studying Cities and Spanish. Outside of the Writing Center, find her brewing tea at the dining halls or camping out in the Carpenter puzzle lab. 

Kashf Ali '28 | Undeclared (Computer Science and Math) Kashf (she/her) is a sophomore from Islamabad, Pakistan, planning to major in Computer Science and Math. She’s eager to explore music clubs on campus and find someone to play table tennis with. When not coding or strumming her guitar, she enjoys cardistry, traveling, discovering new shows and yes—she loves boba too. She looks forward to helping writers strengthen their ideas and find their voice.

Linh Nguyen '28 | Undeclared (Computer Science and Economics) Linh hails all the way from Hanoi, Vietnam. She is so excited for her first year working at the Writing Center! In her free time, she loves to binge-watch Netflix series (always looking for new recommendations!), read a novel, and spend time with her friends.

Mae Meyers '28 | Undeclared (Political Science, minors in Creative Writing and Psychology) Mae (she/her) is from Boston, Massachusetts, and (wrongly, but proudly) believes it to be the most beautiful city in the world. When not at the writing center, you can find her in one of the hammocks on campus, usually reading sci-fi, writing fantasy, or yapping on the phone with her baby sibling. She's thrilled to be working at the writing center this year!

Phoenix Zhang '28 | Undeclared (History of Art and Computer Science, minor in Philosophy) Phoenix (she/her) is a sophomore from D.C. and China. She is super excited to work at the writing center this year! Phoenix loves delving into fascinating stories from around the world and pondering deep philosophical questions such as the eternal "what's for dinner?". Outside of the Writing Center, you can find her studying military strategy, writing stories, and staring at the different owl statues she found around campus.

Xola Owens '28 | Undeclared (Biology, minor in Spanish or Anthropology) Xola (he/she/they) is from Los Angeles, CA, and spent three years studying music in London, England. Outside the Writing Center, they find joy in cooking, hiking, rowing on the Schuylkill with the crew team, and embroidery. She’s particularly nerdy about words and cosmic horror, and you should give her a call if you ever find some bones in the woods that need degreasing. He intends to major in Biology with a minor in Spanish and is very excited to be working at the Writing Center this year.
